In Canada and the USA, third-party certification of electrical products is mandatory by law. However, the law allows manufacturers to choose from a number of alternative certification marks and approval labels that are equally recognized by the Regulatory Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in both countries. When a product bears the mark or label of any of these accredited certifiers, it can then be marketed and sold in the North American market. |
Accreditation demonstrates that the organization in question is fully qualified to test and certify products to the standards for which it is accredited, and that the results of the process are recognized in the pertinent markets. To certify a product for a given market, all accredited organizations must test the product to the same applicable national and/or international standards. |
| In Canada, |
QPS is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a Certification Body, a Testing Laboratory, and an Inspection Body. We are also recognized by all Provincial and Territorial Electrical Inspection Authorities across Canada. As such, our labels and marks have equal acceptance to those of CSA and UL by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) across the country. |
| In the USA, |
QPS is accredited by IAS (International Accreditation Service Inc.) as a Certification Agency, and a Field Evaluation Body. We are also recognized in several states and local jurisdictions such as Washington, Oregon, North Carolina, Idaho, Ohio, City of Chicago, City of Sunnyvale and City of Albany (California). In addition, our application to gain NRTL status for QPS is in process by OSHA. |
Internationally,
|
| We are accredited in the International certification system known as the IECEE/CB Scheme (for electrical products used in ordinary locations), and the IECEx Scheme (for products used in explosive atmospheres). In this regard, our test reports and certificates are accepted in many countries in Europe for compliance with the ATEX Directive, in Asia and worldwide. |
